The 2011 Rule 5 Draft was held on Thursday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers were unsurprisingly inactive in its proceedings, abstaining from taking a single player in the MLB, AAA, and AA phases.

The Dodgers did lose a player though, as the Kansas City Royals selected left-handed pitcher Tom Melgarejo.

Melgarejo wasn’t a significant blow by any means, as he wasn’t even really a prospect. In 2011, at age 24, he pitched in the Mexican League and put up a 3.55 ERA over 38 innings with 32 strikeouts and 19 walks.
