Down On The Farm: Week Of August 19 – Van Slyke, Songco, Reed, Caughel, Bird, Araujo

I attended the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes game on August 22. For a recap with some pictures and videos of both Corey Seager and Lindsey Caughel, and autographs from those two that I picked up, head over here. —– Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes (4-3) Player Of The Week – 8/19 Scott Van Slyke – 1B/OF .462/.696/.769/1.465, 6 RBI, 8 Runs, 1 3B, ... Scouting Report: Darnell Sweeney – July 2013

Darnell Sweeney’s debut was one that caught my eye. He hit the ball better in the Midwest League than he did in the Pioneer League, and was passable on defense. While the easiest comparison for Sweeney is Dee Gordon, it’s not an inappropriate one (maybe just a touch lazy). They are virtually the same player, even though Gordon was/is a better overall prospect. Despite riches elsewhere, ... Read More »

Down On The Farm: Week Of June 10 & 17 – Buss, Stripling, Garcia, Seager, Farmer, Chigbogu, Rodriguez

There’s no Julio Urias appearance this week, but some other quality prospects made the list, including Ross Stripling. Also, the two of the Dodgers‘ short-season leagues began play last week (Pioneer League and Arizona Rookie League). —– Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes (5-2 & 4-4) Player Of The Week – 6/10 Matt Wallach – C .409/.519/.682/1.201, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, ... Down On The Farm: Week Of May 27 & June 3 – Moore, Reed, Dickson, Urias

All I really care about is Julio Urias, but there were a couple prospects who had solid weeks for their respective Dodgers minor-league teams. With Yasiel Puig having been promoted from Double-A, the Lookouts offense now runs through Joc Pederson. The Dominican Summer League started play this week as well, and some of the bigger international signings should log ample ... Read More »

Down On The Farm: Week Of April 22 & 29 – Van Slyke, Pederson, Rasmussen, Sweeney, Seager

TimFederowicz

There were some eye-popping performances in the Dodgers minor-league system the last couple weeks, and I got to see three of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes games in person, which was awesome. There are some guys below folks should keep eyes on this season, as they could establish themselves as legitimate prospects with solid performances in 2013. —– Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes ... Down On The Farm: Week Of April 8 – Van Slyke, Magill, Puig, Lee, Baez, Cash

Kind of a quiet week on the farm for the Dodgers affiliates. The Loons went 4-1, but the other three affiliates didn’t play .500 ball. The pitching seemed to lack this week more than the offense, but there have been some impressive early-season performances thus far. —– Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes (2-5) Player Of The Week Scott Van Slyke – 1B ... Down On The Farm: Week Of July 9th – Magill, Pederson, Santiago, Sweeney, Rathjen

JocPedersonHitting

It was a down week for some of the Dodgers minor league affiliates. The Chattanooga Lookouts and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes both had 2-4 weeks. The Great Lakes Loons checked in with the best record at 5-1. The Albuquerque Isotopes had an abbreviated week due to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Game. The Loons and Ogden Raptors scored the most runs ... Read More »

Down On The Farm: Week Of July 2nd – Ely, Magill, Santiago, Hermsen, Martinez

JohnElyPP

With the Dodgers signing all of the players they drafted in the first 10 rounds, the minor league rosters have received ample reinforcements. The latest to sign: Paco Rodriguez. He was assigned to the Great Lakes Loons. As for on-field performance, the Arizona League Dodgers are on fire. The team is 13-2 on the season and ahead of the second-place ... Read More »

Dodgers sign 11 of their 2012 draft picks, including Jesmuel Valentin

JesmuelValentin

The Dodgers agreed to terms with 11 of their selections from the 2012 MLB Draft. The Dodgers announced the signings of 11 recent draftees, including supplemental pick shortstop Jesmuel Valentin, the 51st overall selection and the son of former Dodger Jose Valentin. The recommended slot bonus for the 51st pick was $984,700. Valentin, from the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and ... Read More »
