The team placed Chad Billingsley, Scott Elbert, Hanley Ramirez, and Ted Lilly officially on the disabled list.

Prior to the disabled list moves, the team cut eight players to essentially set the Opening Day roster. Chad has more details on that here.

The team released right-handed pitchers Florencio Bustillos, Brock Mansion, and Joe Robinson, along with left-handed pitchers Mike Antonini, Fabio Castro, and Alfredo Unzue.

Outfielder Nick Akins was also released, and he’s the biggest name of the seven because he once generated buzz by putting up ridiculous numbers in Rookie-ball. Unfortunately, none of that carried over to full-season ball, leading to this step in his career.
